Sheila Henson, RD
Sheila is a registered dietitian. She completed the very first CDR certificate of training in Adult Weight Managment through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She plays an integral role at HNT utilizing her education, experience, and passion.
She and her husband owned and operated a fitness center while obtaining her undergraduate degree from Goshen College (Goshen, IN). They moved their family to Arkansas to complete her dietetic internship. As an RD/program coordinator she worked alongside Dr. Phillip Kern to establish the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Weight Control Program (Little Rock, AR). She is responsible for our successful Indianapolis operation.
Dawn Ayers, Endocrinologist
Dr. Ayers is a Board Certified Endocrinologist and holds professional memberships in the Endocrine Society, Indiana State Medical Association, and Corbin Roudebush Indiana Endocrine Society. She graduated with a B.S. in Nursing in 1989 Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA. She pursued a chemistry major at Indiana University and went on to IU’s Medical School, graduating in 1989. She did her internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Hospital from 1983-1993 before completing an endocrinology fellowship at IU Medical Center in 1995. In addition to being HNT Indiana’s Medical Director, Dr. Ayers is the Director of Riverview Diabetes Center and practices at Noblesville Diabetes & Endocrinology. When she is not working, she enjoys reading, walking and spending time with her four daughters.
Laura Paulsen, MS, RD
Laura is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer. She acquired her B.S. in Dietetics and Nutrition, Fitness, & Health from Purdue University in 2013. She completed her Dietetic Internship and Masters Program through Louisiana Tech University. She started working for HNT in October 2014 to follow her love of helping others reach their health and weight management goals. Laura, in her free time, likes to train and compete in triathlons, spend time with her family, and try new recipes.
Roxanne Standeford, RD
Roxanne is a Registered Dietitian and acquired her B.S. in Dietetics and Nutrition, Fitness, & Health from Purdue University in 2008. She completed her Dietetic Internship through Purdue in 2009. Shortly after, she began working for HNT to follow her aspirations of empowering others to obtain and maintain their health and weight management goals. Roxanne enjoys spending time with her family, playing volleyball, gardening, and bike riding.
Amanda Wilson, MA, RD
Amanda Wilson is a Registered Dietitian having earned her undergraduate and Master’s degree in Dietetics from Ball State. She previously worked for HNT (2007-2008) before moving to Iowa for five years. Since returning to Indiana, she and husband Clint have added a beautiful daughter to their family. She works at our Castleton site on Thursday evening and operated as a consulting dietitian for a long-term care facility one other day of the week. This schedule allows her to continue to use her professional skills and focus on her growing family.
Program Operations Coordinator
Justin is an Economics major from IU. Although he is not a registered dietitian, his role is to support the health educators. He works on data analytics and metrics. Justin is a part-time employee, but he is very much part of the team.
Christina Varvel, RD
Christina is a Registered Dietitian and received a B.S. in Dietetics from Purdue University. She began working for HNT in July 2008 shortly after completing her dietetic internship through Purdue University. Christina is now a full-time mommy, she pens a nutrition blog titled “Varvelicious” and is the nutrition expert of Varvel Insider, an up and coming YouTube Channel. Christina fills in from time to time in all HNT Indiana locations.
